We know little or nothing about information other than it is not tangible and is not of necessity constrained by energy/matter and thus may not be constrained by time or the speed of light. Our only real handle on it is probabilistic. Thus it may not be possible as purely physical beings to be able to understand information. The likes of Roger Penrose have arguments that suggest our very thinking process is quantum in nature (as is our ability to smell, and use energy from sunlight).
